HMC Ships Named For Ottawa Area Highlight Naval Centennial
OTTAWA, ONT. – Representatives of the Canadian Navy will present framed pictorial histories of three Ottawa area namesake warships and a shore establishment to His Worship Larry O’Brien at an Ottawa City Council meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 10. Navy Captain Marty Teft, Assistant Chief of Staff Personnel and Training at Maritime Forces Pacific, Cmdr. Frédérick Caron, Commanding Officer of Her Majesty’s Canadian Ship Ottawa and Lt.-Cmdr.

Presence of TCE in Groundwater at Valcartier Garrison
DND undertook an environmental investigation in 1997 when it discovered levels of trichloroethylene (TCE) in the aquifer under the Valcartier Garrison at Defence R& D Canada- Valcartier (DRDC Valcartier) property. Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a chemical that is commonly used as an industrial cleansing solvent.

Canadian Forces Station Sydney Remediation Project
The Canadian Forces Station (CFS) Sydney Main Radar Site was originally built as a United States Air Force Base in 1953 and was later transferred to the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1961. The station was decommissioned in 1992 and sold to the County of Cape Breton, who in turn sold it to New Dawn Enterprises Limited (Cape Breton, N.S.).
