I just accepted my COT to AES Op. Initial A/C medical is done and being sent out to the world. That being said I am hoping to re thread a post for pre course materials. If anybody could be so kind and fire me some material I would be most greatful.

I just got the great news that my VOT was granted to AESOP and as of July I will be changing over to blue. AESOP was always my first choice with only AVN (with dreams of Flight Engr) as a second choice.

So, I'm trying to understand the QL/rank/Spec pay progression of AESOP as it stands for new VOT pers. Coming to the trade I am being reduced in rank to Cpl of course, but since I'm coming from a non-spec trade that doesn't equate to a big pay hit. That being said I think a lot of the information I have about the trade's career progression is out dated. So now to my questions...

1. At what point is an AESOP considered QL5 qualified and eligible for spec pay and how long does it take on average to reach this point.
2. Is MCpl still the "working rank"? Are acting-lacking MCpl common in the trade?

Today I am proud to say that there are 8 brand new AES Ops. To the units that they are posted to, they all look forward to the new exciting challenge they will be faced with. To the new AES Ops I look forward to hearing about your trips and working with you done the road.
