The AES Op Lounge made its first appearance on the Internet early in 2003 and used the name "The AESOP Flight Lounge". While doing research into the AES Op trade it was apparent to the webmaster that the existing internet presence for the trade was not very current. The one or two sites that did exist were very dated and their resources limited. The original version of this site was created while attending the BAC course at CFANS in Winnipeg. The site ran on PostNuke software which was very confusing to administer, a real chore to upgrade from one version to the next and the different sections of the site (forum, gallery, etc) existed but were not fully integrated into the site design or the user database.

The AES Op Lounge was completely rebuilt in 2008 and now uses the very robust commercial software, vBulletin, as its core with all of the other sections of the site fully integrated with the site design and database. The new site software is fully supported and is much easier to administer and upgrade to the latest versions. On behalf of the entire community I would like to thank the wonderful people who have made donations to help cover the costs associated with the website.

The AES Op Lounge is NOT an 'official' site. What is meant by that is that the site is not paid for or endorsed by the Canadian Forces or the Government of Canada. The information you read in the various sections of the site is not to be considered 'official' and all visitors are encouraged to use official resources to confirm anything that might have been read on this site before making decisions or taking any action of consequence. Also, this site should never be used or quoted as a 'source' for official information.

With all of that being said, there are people who are members of this site that can provide you with 'official' information. These individuals will occasionally provide contact information so that they can be contacted directly, or through the chain of command, to answer questions in their 'official' capacities. The AES Op Lounge does not act as a facilitator to the access of 'official' information other than to provide the venue for various parties to communicate with each other.

To sum up, The AES Op Lounge is NOT an official site of the Canadian Forces or the Government of Canada. Our guests and members should keep that in mind at all times.

The classification of this website is UNCLASSIFIED. Under no circumstances are guests or members of The AES Op Lounge to post classified images or other classified information to this website. This policy applies to all sections of the site including the chat room, forum, links section, private messaging system and email originated from the integrated email functions of The AES Op Lounge.
