Mkimmay,

I'm a reserve armored cpl with 3 years in.
Put my application in for aesop early last year.
Trying to get into the trade by whatever route possible.
How about you?

I graduated from highschool in 09, and joining the Canadian Forces was always a dream of mine... I just never thought I'd actually do it, but then my ex (Boyfriend at the time) and my older sister joined the forces which made it a reality for me. My parents aren't too impressed though... They wanted a trophy daughter who goes to Med school to becomes a brain surgeon or an [Insert "prestigious" job]. Apparently my sister is just a bad influence on me, and I'm just following in her footsteps!!! I could have been anything I've wanted to, yet I chose to enlist

Haha there's my life story. I guess the shortest and more direct answer would be "DE applicant" :P

LOL yes it's your "Survival" course however if you enjoy the outdoors it's a blast. I may have a bias opinion though as I have 11 years in the infantry and I thought of it like a camping trip. The advanced SERE course is the one concentrates on escape and evade, you only require the basic course atm so essential survival tips out in the wild by yourself.

Yeah NBDunk already told me what it was about

I was getting the idea that we'd have to be in simulated POW camps, be tortured and all that stuff, but that's just what my ex has to go through for SF. I would NOT have been looking forward to that, lol.

I stopped by my recruiting centre today - I was given a look the spreadsheet of trades that the CF will be enrolling applicants for in the new fiscal year. AES OP is open but tagged as enrollment being 'limited to those already processed'. They explained this meant that they forecast (or already have) more people on the merit list than there are forecasted openings.

Hence for those DE's that are still in processing (interview, medicals, etc.) or thinking of applying, you have to complete processing and be merit listed before the new fiscal year to have a shot at being enrolled as an AES OP in April (or March if they start enrolling early.)

So stay on top of your file and best of luck!

I just have to do two more medicals (the lab work and the eye exam) and I'm done!! So hopefully I'll be merit listed near the end of this month Yay!!

Also, I asked my interviewer if they preferred transfers over DEs.

He said that there are allotted slots for DEs. So if they want to hire 10 new AES ops, 5 would go to transfers and the other 5 would go to DEs.

So nervous, application for CT has been finished since December, told to wait for the new fiscal year.

Any ideas on the date that they will start issuing the offers?
