Hi Guys,
I have been trying to start a component transfer to AES Op with CRFC Halifax and have yet to be successful. I am new to the reserves and haven't started any courses. I have left two messages with the person in charge of component transfers and haven't received a reply. My questions are: Is it too late to apply for a CT to AES Op for the 2010/2011 fiscal year? If not, how quickly could I make it to St. Jean for BMQ? Is the first step in the CT process to contact the recruiting centre? Thank you for the help. Last edited by Will84; 02-04-2010 at 10:00 AM. |

It's never too late or too early to start the process. The AES Op trade accepts applications all year round. There is no way to predict how fast the process will go. I would suggest speaking to your unit OR for details on the component transfer process. I do not have any knowledge of it.. but others here might.
Best of luck! Quote:

Hi Will,
If you have access to the DIN, you can put your CT in as soon as tomorrow if you wanted! The new CT process has you applying online(via the DIN), and it is literally just one page to get you started down the AESOP path. Your OR should have the link, and if not, just do a DIN search for it and it should pop up. If you still aren't having any luck finding it, let me know and I will fwd it to you via mil email. Oh, and the CFRC will be involved, but their role now is more to administer on behalf of the section in Ottawa handling all CTs. Hope this helps, Tanya |

Thanks Kevin and Tanya. You've both been a great help. I will get access to the DIN start this as soon as possible.
I've heard some horror stories about component transfers - hopefully mine goes smoothly. |

I know of the horrors you speak of.........best suggestion I can give you is keep a copy of all your paperwork (there's office gremlins that like to eat them) and call every few weeks to get the status of your application. That may prevent of having to resubmit your docs from scratch 3-4 times.

The DWAN can be a nightmare to find things on so I thought I would spend a couple of minutes while sitting at the office to find the website that you would need. It was surprisingly less of a headache than I thought it would be.
This site (DWAN link) contains links to component transfer (CT) information as well as a link to the online CT application. Hope that helps!

Thanks guys!
Kevin - the link doesn't seem to work. Anywhere else I can find the information? |

Did you try the link from a DWAN computer or from a personal computer?

Oddly enough, the fact that you haven't done any courses *might* work in your favour. When folks do a CT, one of the things that can slow down the transfer is the process where they are granted qualifications and equivalencies based on training in the PRes. Your case should be simple as you don't actually have any at this point according to your first post. Also, some CTs are not straight CTs (i.e. from say, Supply Tech in the PRes ---> Supply Tech Reg Force, but also incorporate an Occupational Transfer as well. That makes it alittle more complicated and may increase timelines (alot of variables factor in, so no black and white answer can be given). You'll never know until you apply, and good luck when you do! Stan |

Hey dude,
I have just gone through this entire process via CFRC Halifax, and I could not have had a more positive experience. But you need to do a lot for yourself. A bit of advice that you will need to carry through your entire NCM career: You are your own career manager. You can`t wait for the recruiting centre to tell you what and when to do. Luckily, you have a large resource of good advice on this forum. Go do your online CT paperwork. And call the MIR and book yourself for your aircrew medicals STAT. They`ve got waiting lists for this stuff so get on it. As for getting in this year, I don`t see it happening. People are chosen for the trade by selection boards, which are held (as far as I know) in the Spring and in the Fall. Between getting your medicals, eye appointments, and getting your air factor will be months. (Sorry thats how it is...) Good Luck! |
